Wood

When choosing the right hardwood floor, you must consider both your design elements as well as your lifestyle/jobsite.  Design elements include: Color of wood, grain patterns, grade and width.  Your lifestyle/jobsite conditions will determine if it should be solid or engineered as well as the hardness of the wood.

Textures and Patterns

Traditionally, hardwood floors are flat and smooth whether it's a job site sand and finish or a typical pre-finished product.  Many textures are available such as wire brushing, hand scraping, saw marks, etc.  Also, the wood can be cut into any pattern configuration you can imagine.

Types of Finish

There are two major categories of finish: Urethane and Natural Oil.  Urethane is the traditional, durable, and stress-free finish that coats the wood.  Natural oils or Hard wax oils penetrate into the wood and offer a unique beauty and feel.  However, the oils do require routine maintenance to sustain that beauty.
